June 27 Images

Not an overly active sun compared to what we have had but there is always something up there to capture for this day I had conditions that were better than average .

                                                                 AR 2096 & 2097

                                                                          AR 2098

Conditions were good enough to do these at 3X

June 14 & 15 images

My focus has been on finding out what the Quark wants to produce decent images , unfortunately I am still searching and waiting for conditions more suitable for long focal lengths . In the mean time here are some random images from June 14 & 15

                                                           June 14

Full Disk June 13 2014

I haven't had much opportunity for imaging lately but thankfully Bill has been doing a great job of providing us with his talent .
I tried something different for this full disk , Usually I will use my SM 60II DS for full disks but wanted to try something different this time . I removed the 60mm etalon , mounted it to a ST 102 and popped in the BF 15 .

Here is an image from this set up , I thought this brought out quite a bit of detail for a single stack . I believe this method also produced more even lighting and less off band area than my SM60II does even when it is double stacked

I have some images from June 10, 2014 that I can post and I may have a few more later on.  Mike should have some images to post soon and some scope modification information.

AR2079, 80, 81, 82, 84 & 85 -  A pretty full house.  :-)

Closer in on AR2080 & 85-

Close in on AR2077, 80 & 84-

Solar flare activity has been increasing and you can see the brighter areas around the more active sunspots at the top of the image as compared to the lower sunspot.

Here is AR2087 coming around at the limb.  This is the new very active sunspot.  There were two X-Rated flares from this sunspot yesterday prior to when this image was taken.  There appears to be some ejection at the top of the sunspot that might be related to the flare activity.

I have a few images from June 08, 2014.  I was able to image today also, June 10th.  I will be working on those images later and get them posted as soon as I can.  And on the good news front - Solar Mini-Max - NASA Science

The long filament of the passed few days.

The big picture.

AR2079,80,81,82 & 85 -

Another view of all those sunspots -

A few images from June 4th and 5th.

AR2077 and AR2079

This is a comparison of the same image, the left taken with 500 frames and the right taken with 800 frames.  To my eye the image with the least frames looks better.

AR2077 -

AR2089 -

I might have a couple more later.

May 31 Images

It seems like a long time since I have had clear enough sky's to image . My efforts lately had been on using and trying to figure out the new Quark . I decided to take a break from this and went back to my PST mod for these . I will start with some prom shots .

Now some surface starting with AR  2077

AR 2075

AR 2073 and a fat filament

AR 2075 a bit closer
