Another nice viewing day today. The solar activity is low at the moment but we might as well show that too. :-) The sunspots are more light colored (white) then anything because of the weak magnetic fields. With stronger solar activity the heat is held in to the sunspot area making them appear black in comparison the the hotter area around them. Prom activity is low also.

I had a clear day yesterday and I was able to take a few videos of our star. The solar activity is at a low point at the moment so there wasn't much to image for our purposes. I am posting a few images from yesterday but nothing that I am very happy with.

I hope that we haven't dropped into a sudden solar minimum. :-)

I managed to get in some imaging time yesterday. The conditions were fairly good with some 'Boiling' in the sky from a layer of haze. The results weren't what I would have liked but I will share a few of the images.

To my surprise January 31 turned out to be a very nice day. There were two notable proms and one of them was quite big.

These two prom images were taken with the DMK-21 and a Powermate.
I tried for a close up of the big prom using my DMK-21 with a Barlow lens and the Powermate -

My First 2015 Session
Like many of us living in the northern hemisphere I have been under a blanket if clouds for the last month but yesterday was a nice day for imaging . Temperatures were around 0-C and the sky was clear , transparency could have been better but at this time of year I will take what I can get !!

These were done with my Skywatcher DS Mod at native F/L

Hope you enjoy these , comments or suggestions are always welcome

Finally!!! After what seems like a very long time with no sun. There was plenty of clouds and fog though. :-) It isn't a very busy to on our start but I captured what I could.

Mike and I wanted to thank all of our viewers. We had a great year with our solar imaging efforts and Mike has made some great strides in fabricating new solar telescopes. We are both are stopped temporarily from imaging because of the winter weather in our respective locations. You can rest assured that when the conditions permit, we will be posting more pictures of our nearest star.
